Carolyn Reyes - Prayers for Her Loss

Carolyn Reyes

April 15, 2026

We talked with Carolyn today and have incredibly sad news to communicate here. Carolyn's son, Arik, who had been missing since March 13th was found deceased on April 6th. These words are just so difficult to write. More so, we cannot imagine the pain this mother, our softball friend, is going through. Carolyn traveled to Spokane, WA to help in the search and will now be driving back home this Friday.

Let's keep Carolyn and Arik's other family members and friends in our thoughts and prayers during their time of grief. She would like to extend her gratitude to those who have reached out in support and love.

Kathy Peabody - Surgery Update

Kathy Peabody

April 15, 2026 (post surgery)

We connected with Kathy to hear that the surgery went well. She slept the day of surgery and is without much pain and is getting around really well.

April 13, 2026

Let's keep Kathy in prayer and in our thoughts because tomorrow (April 14) she is scheduled for knee replacement surgery. Kathy (aka Helen's sister 😉) plays CL and Heat. We hope for the best surgical outcome and recovery for her. We've got you covered (in prayer), Kathy!!!!! We'll keep you updated as information becomes available.

Alan Kniager - Injury on the Field Update

Alan Kniager

April 11, 2026

If you were at the field on the last AL day of the session yesterday, you would have seen Alan make his normal yet exceptional play for a line drive in right center. Unfortunately, something went wrong and with outstretched glove he went to the ground and came up in pain. We connected with him later in the afternoon. He must have been about to be discharged after being checked at the ED. Alan said, "Nothing dislocated or broken; just an AC joint sprain". He looks forward to being back on the field in a week or so.

Let's keep Alan and Kat in our prayers and thoughts while he recovers. Our hope for him is that the pain subsides and for thorough healing...back to those outstanding defensive plays.

Sky Soom - Surgery Update

Sky Soom

April 10, 2026

We spoke with Sky yesterday just one day post shoulder repair surgery. He is home and understandably sore. He explained that the procedure was more extensive than expected. Beyond cleaning up the arthritis and bone spurs, surgeons cut major tears, released the bicep, went into the labrum to reattach tendons to the bone inserting 6 anchors. Sky is glad to have it done. He understands it will be 6 months and is devoted to the rehab ahead; back in time for fall ball with a strong throwing arm!

Let's keep Stacy and Sky in our thoughts and prayers as he recovers and begins rehab. We understand he has a bell to call on his caregiver and better half. We hope the bell ringing is kept to a minimum for Stacy's sake!!!!

Bob Thaden - Injury Update

Bob Thaden

April 5, 2026

We connected with Bob yesterday following up with Friday's injury on the field. The good news is this AL Rangers SS did make that fantastic catch on the way to the ground. You may have been in attendance and witnessed his unfortunate injury. The bad news is that Bob had to leave the game with extreme pain in his upper body/shoulder area. He wants to thank Judy Ickes for attending to his injury and taking him to the hospital. There Bob was evaluated, no breaks, no dislocations, and released with medications and sling to keep his arm stable. He's home recuperating. We understand he will not finish out the session. Bob and Patti will head home in about a week. We hope for healing and good care for his injury.

Let's keep Bob in our thoughts and prayers.

Les Martin - Knee Replacement Surgery Update

Les Martin

April 3, 2026

Hey Softball Family,

We heard today that Les' had knee replacement surgery yesterday. He's in good spirits which is usual for Les a NL player/manager. He said his surgery went well but they did have to do a bit more to correct the bone. He had some major arthritis in there. He's anxious to get back on the field for fall ball. He loves the sign the fence "You don't stop playing because your grow old. You grow old because you stop playing." He said that is what keeps him playing at 83 and still going strong! Amen to that, Les! Let's keep Les in our prayers and thoughts as he recovers and rehabs for healing and continued strength.

Wendy Geiwitz - Lung Cancer Treatment Journey

Wendy Geiwitz

March 29, 2026

We talked with Wendy, a NL and HEAT player, yesterday. She let us know that she and Rich are feeling more settled now because they now have steps scheduled in her treatment plan. You will recall, she was diagnosed with lung cancer. Starting Tuesday they will go to Mayo each weekday for some weeks for radiation. She will also have a port implanted ready for her chemo treatments.

Wendy also wanted us to tell you, friends and members of this softball community, that they feel comforted and supported. Your expressions of care through cards, communications, prayers and more have given them a great gift they truly appreciate. Wendy tells us they are doing fine so far and have no immediate other needs.
Let's continue to support them with prayer and keep Rich and Wendy in our thoughts as they go through the daily drive to Mayo for necessary treatment to battle this cancer.

March 6, 2026

Let's continue our support for Wendy. Our last communication we provided information about her upcoming procedure; a bronchoscopy with biopsies. She let us know the diagnosis and a little about what comes next given the findings. There is a growth in her lungs with cancer. Her next appointment is with an oncologist and a future PET or MRI scan. We were able to take time after her game Thursday. We talked at the field because she came Thursday to be with her team and coach 3rd base.

Let's focus our thoughts and prayers for Wendy and Rich as they continue on this journey. Thank you, Wendy, for what you bring to our club, the leagues, and players. You are a gamer and your presence is an amazing highlight! We pray quality and seamless treatment plans, God's comfort and peace for you and Rich.

February 20, 2026

We talked a bit with Wendy at the field yesterday about her illness. This week she is scheduled to be seen at Mayo and undergo a procedure that will provide a diagnosis for her lung condition. Let's keep our thoughts on and prayers for Wendy and Rich while they navigate this journey through health care and treatment options. All the best for you Wendy!

Tina Prosenick - Injury on the Field

Tina Prosenick

February 22, 2026

Passing along this "thank you" message from our friend and teammate, Tina, this morning. "I just want to thank everybody for all the prayers for the visits, the cards, the food and flowers. I am so blessed to be around so many wonderful people! I'm on the road to recovery. My hand is really swollen and tight in the cast. I have pins in there to try to keep the radius and ulna in place. Also have a metal plate and while she was in there, she actually took care of my carpal tunnel! That was a plus. Anyway, thank you all so very much for all the love and support. We have an amazing group of people. All Angels in my mind 💓 😇 Blessings to all, Tina"

February 20, 2026

Tina is scheduled for surgery this morning at 5:45. The surgery is to repair the two breaks to her left ulna. You may recall that Sunday, while playing women's Heat competition, she sustained a serious injury to her left wrist/arm. In the ED a procedure aligned the radius but was not successful for the ulna breaks. Let's continue to support Tina and Kevin by keeping them in our thoughts and prayers for successful repair and that Tina does well though the surgery and recovery.

 February 16, 2026

Please be in prayer for Tina. You may have been a fan in the stands at our women's Heat game yesterday when she suffered a serious injury on the field. It happened while making a play on the ball in right field. Last we heard she underwent a procedure to repair her left wrist that was broken in two places. They did a reduction which lined up the radius. However, she still has two broken bones, one on each side of the ulna, that did not straighten out. Last night she was waiting for the orthopedic surgeon to determine next steps. At present she is under care and treatment in the hospital.

She asked for our prayers. Tina is suffering with lots of pain even after the reduction.

Tina is not only a women's Heat team player, she also plays NL and serves our club as Publicity Chair and is an Angel in the Outfield. Let's give Tina and Kevin our support and encouragement. We will keep you up to date with more as information becomes available.

Vernez Blattner - Prayers for her Health Journey

Vernez Blattner

October 30, 2025

We talked a bit with Vernez about the health journey she has ahead. She has one kidney and has been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure. There is some testing and results coming yet and details will be more clear as to her options. So far Vernez and Tom have identified 3 people who are willing to donate a kidney if it comes to that. In the meantime, she remains active and positive (as always!).

Let's give the Blattner's our club's great support and love. And, we keep them in our thoughts and prayers for the journey ahead.
